New Money for the Low Carbon Buildings Programme
Greenworks is pleased to announce that the government is creating new opportunities for householders, communities and the public sector to install a range of small scale on-site energy technologies and play their part in tackling climate change.
Following Chancellor Alistair Darling’s Budget announcement on 22 April 2009, an additional £45 million has been allocated to the Low Carbon Buildings Programme (LCBP).
The LCBP has two Phases. Phase 1, which supports household applications and technologies, will receive an extra £10 million in funding. This will effectively extend the current project from July 2010 to April 2011.
Phase 2, which supports technologies for schools, companies and community projects, will receive a further £35 million in funding. £5 million of the overall £45 million being awarded to the Programme has already been allocated to solar photovoltaic funding under Phase 2. Projects that were unsuccessful under LCBP phase 2 will be eligible to apply to the extended programme.
The newly updated Programme, which will come into full effect from July 1st 2009, will be open to all products and installer companies registered on the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). The extended programme will continue to provide grant funding to charitable organisations, community groups and the public sector.
This is excellent news and provides new money to support installations of microgeneration technologies through to the introduction of Feed in tariffs and the Renewable Heat Incentive.
Greenworks hopes to see as many projects as possible coming forward to achieve their ambitions and install small scale onsite technologies.
